Len is one of Ireland's best-known singers with an international reputation not only for his entertaining, eloquent & moving singing style but also for the breadth & depth of his knowledge of the Ulster tradition. He's one of the greatest modern song collectors. The workshop will cover songs & ballads from the Ulster tradition; the Ulster & Appalachian connection in song; and happy songs from the Ulster tradition. Each session will put the songs in context, giving historical & social background. As an oral tradition these songs will be taught by ear with lyrics provided. You are encouraged to bring an audio recording device.
