Mat is a fiddler from the village of Bampton in Oxfordshire & the Squire of Bampton Morris. As well as playing for the Morris he was in folk festival favourites The Woodpecker Band, & is in the concert band Magpie Lane. He has a distinctive fiddle style � quintessentially English & very danceable.
The theme of the workshop is playing English country dance music in a lively, danceable way. The morning session is for fiddles only & in the afternoon we will join forces with Andy Turner's concertina workshop to look at how different instruments can combine to make good dance music. Participants will be encouraged to play by ear but dots will be provided as a guide & sent out in advance.
Not suitable for complete beginners.
