Paul & Liz both grew up in towns but have family traditions of singing, from rural Yorkshire, the North-East, Norfolk & Southern English travellers. They have made three CDs, 'Under the Leaves' , 'Songbooks' and �Spring Tide Rising�. Paul has been editor of the EFDSS magazine English Dance & Song (EDS). They are field collectors & academic researchers & have led ballad sessions at Whitby, Sidmouth, Holmfirth and Warwick Festivals. They have a special expertise in old variants of Child ballads & also in reworking them to suit our days while retaining their human truth & power.

*You are invited to bring along at least one traditional ballad of your choice to sing & talk about.*

You are invited to bring at least one ballad of your choice to sing & talk about, including reworked or new songs in the ballad style. To avoid clashes with other contributors, please state your preferred ballad in advance. If your choice has already been taken, we will let you know so that you can choose another.

Paul says, 'If you could make it into a film, it's probably a ballad'. If in doubt about what counts as a ballad, phone or email to check.
